Happy Birthday Ginger!

Twelve years ago today this sweet little kitten was born. She came to us when R was seven and L was four. Her pregnant Mom was thrown from a car on a busy road in Cocoa Beach, Florida and rescued by a sweet older couple who already had a couple of cats. Shortly after the rescue, Ginger was born. She was the only one in the litter. Mom loaded up the kids and drove them to Cocoa Beach for a rescue mission of their own. They were going to bring Ginger home to live with us since the couple couldn't keep her. This is how she looked shortly after we got her. So playful and cute, yet a little quirky. She never was a cuddly kitten and, therefore, has never been a cuddly cat. She has always been Rs buddy though. She sleeps with her, listens to her - except when she's being scolded, and never, never, never messes with yarn. Those are some fine qualities in a cat...especially NOT messing with yarn in this house insulated with yarn!

This is Ginger now. What a grouch! This is what she looks like to us most of the time when she is perched on her favorite loveseat arm. I think she thinks she is better than us. Maybe she's right. I don't have anybody cleaning my bathroom and getting me fresh food and water everyday! Lately she's been a little more loving and R is convinced she has something seriously wrong with her. I don't know - maybe after twelve years she is finally getting used to us!
Happy Birthday Ginger!

Ohhhh...what a day that was, when Bec and I went to see if she could adopt this waif! The old couple approved and we left with the little bundle of joy! MAN ALIVE, WHAT HAPPENED from that day 'til this??? She's pretty, but her latest photo op does NOT reflect her wonderful personlity. Well, maybe it does...I lie now and then! This is one of those times! Of course, who could imagine little Miss Priss, without her little bud???I dread the day...well, you know where I'm going with that...
Another good day on the blog! Thanks K and the Fam!
